Not Sure Where to Start?

Have you considered a photoshoot with your horse but aren’t quite sure where to have it? You’re not alone—this is one of the most common questions I get.

I will always start by asking where your horse is stabled, and from there we’ll have an in-depth chat about whether it’s suitable and what kind of backdrops it can offer. Most of the time, your horse’s home is actually the best place for a photoshoot.

Why Your Yard is Perfect

You may not think your yard looks particularly “pretty,” but I can almost guarantee there will be hidden gems we can use. Every yard has its own charm—whether it’s modern and fresh, rustic and weathered, or a little quirky.

Sometimes it’s the simplest spots—a stable doorway, a wooden fence, or soft light across the yard—that create the most beautiful images.

Being at your yard also makes the experience far more relaxed for both you and your horse. Your horse is in a familiar environment, which helps them stay calm and comfortable. And if you’re feeling a little nervous in front of the camera (which is completely normal!), being somewhere familiar really helps take the pressure off.

What to Look For

Take a look around your yard—there may be more opportunities than you think. Do you have:

  • Fields

  • Walkways or driveways

  • Hedges or gates

  • Stables or wooden fencing

  • Countryside views

  • Flowers, trees, or even a pond

If you can tick at least five of these, you already have everything we need for a stunning variety of photos.

Exploring Beyond the Yard

If you have access to good hacking routes or nearby bridleways, these can make beautiful, natural backdrops too. They add a lovely sense of movement and storytelling to your images.

If you’re dreaming of something a little different, we can also travel. Woodland walks create a soft, magical feel, country parks offer open space and seasonal colour, and the beach provides a dramatic and unforgettable setting.

The location we choose will always be guided by the look and feel you want to create.

Your Experience, Your Story

At the heart of it all, this experience is about you and your horse. You know them best, and this is your chance to capture that connection in a way that lasts forever.

These are the images you’ll hang on your wall and look back on, remembering all those special moments together.

So next time you take your horse out to the field, pause for a moment. Look a little closer at your surroundings—you might already be standing in the perfect photoshoot location without even realising it.
